What Does "Discovering" Mean to Me? What Does ’Discovery’ Mean? Mr. May asked us to think about what discovery means. There are many different perspectives on what discovery means. This is what it means to me. It means looking for something. My picture is me looking for a treasure. That is what disocvery means to me.

Crusie Arcade Game -Research Paper: Ski Ball for One or Two Identify the Problem How can we, as Caine has inspired, demonstrate through teamwork our imagination, determination, and passion for creativity and innovation, with our own arcade constructions? Explore What Makes an Effective Professional Arcade Game?
The arcade game I chose is called Sphere Runner. I chose Sphere Runner because I wanted to see if Sphere Runner is a good game to play. The name of the person that created this game is David Carachelo. The object of Sphere Runner is to move over all of the circles in order to light them up. To move the rocket you use the arrow keys to go up, down, right, left, so you do not get hit by the fire balls. When you fill in all of the circles, you go to the next level. The rules of the game are displayed at the bottom of the game window. I would give the game Sphere Runner a 3 out of 4 in difficulty. You win the game by filling in all of the spheres that are on the grid with the rocket and trying not to get shot by the fire balls. If you win the game you go on to the next level and the next level is normally harder so try to keep all of your lives.
The materials I think you need to build this game are circles that light up, squares that you can run over, balls, cardboard, tape, and a mini-rocket ship. I think Sphere runner would be $10 to build, and $4 to buy.

http://www.freearcade.com/Sphererunner.jav/Sphererunner.html Design Brief What is the Concept Design of My Crusie Arcade Game? The name of our arcade game is Ski Ball for One or Two. It is a very fascinating game. The way you play this game is you roll the ball into one of the holes. The hole it lands in determines how many tickets you get. If you get enough tickets you get a prize. If you are playing with another person the person with the most points at the end wins. In case you forget the rules of the game, they will be displayed right smack in the middle of the board. This game is pretty hard. The rating would probably be a 3 star rating. The way you win the game is to get as many balls as possible into the holes. If you win the game you get tickets and a prize.
We had to briefly describe our blueprint - an orthographic design. It shows the front, back, and side on the blueprint. If you looked at it from the front you would see the directions, the name, the rules, the prizes and tape of different patterns and colors. If you looked at it from a bird’s eye view you would see cups and awesome tape. If you looked at it from either side you would see a gigantic hole and boxes with the Girl Scout cookie sign.
To build this game we need cardboard, tape, toilet paper tubes, boxes, containers, pen, tube, duct tape. To build this creation I think it will take about a month or so. It is very delicate and we still have to work out the kinks. The problems we foresee happening are we are worried that the bigger balls might not fit into the containers. This has been very fun! Praise: Colorful, easy to understand directions.
Question: Should game be titled?
Polish: It would be helpful to have point values written on the board, balls in front of the person. Maybe you can put the balls in a basket.
Student Comment: Thank you for playing Ski Ball for One or Two. We put the neon colors there since it really enhances the cardboard. We wrote the directions to make our game as easy as possible to understand. I think you misread the game; we had the game title on the big board. There must have been a big ball blocking the board where the name was taped. We forgot to write the value because a few weeks before you came our game was not sturdy enough so we re-taped everything. I think you are right about putting the balls in a basket! The balls automatically go inside the game.
Examiner: Mr. Grass
Date: 2-7-13
Praise: I love the colors and the design of the game. I also like that your game can play two players at a time.
Question: How can you make the balls come out easier? Could you make the 50pt and the 30pt smaller?
Polish: Maybe offer a grand prize! This will make people play more.
Student Comment: Thank you; we put the colors on our game “Ski Ball for One or Two” so the people who play can pick one side to try to get the ball in. We made it a two player game so the line would not get too long. To make the balls come out easier, we could make ramps. We could make the 50 point and 30 point smaller so the people do not get the 50 point and 30 point as easily. I think your suggestion of a grand prize is a good Idea. To do this I could give out the tickets. One could say “Keep this Coupon” and then another where there is just a number and do a raffle.

Praise: Colorful design.
Question: Should balls land in the cup rather than falling through the bottom, might be easier for you. Should there be sides so the balls don’t fall all over the place?
Polish: It would be helpful to have point values written on the board, balls in front of person, and maybe you can put the balls in a basket.
Student Comment: Thank you for saying that our design is colorful. We made our design colorful so it would pop out to the people. I think that having the balls fall in a cup would be a good Idea. I think there should be sides so it would be easier to get the balls. We took your consideration and put values on the board. To keep the balls from rolling away, we could put them in a basket.

Make It Better How Can We Make the Crusie Arcade Game Better? Reflection on Project
What can we do to improve our Arcade Creation?
We can add sides of cardboard so the balls do not roll off the side of our game Ski Ball for One or Two.
Specifically, how would we do this?
We would do that by getting two pieces of cardboard and then tape it on to the side of the game.
Reflection on Process
What did you learn to do with the Crusie Arcade Project?
I learned that I can make ski ball out of card board and how to solve problems with a partner.
What do you know that you didn’t know before doing the Project?
Now I know that it is so hard to make card board games.
What can you do know that you couldn’t before doing this project?
I can now hand out tickets really fast and take them back and give out prizes really fast, too.
What did you like about the project that helped your learning?
Having a partner really helped me out with the game and that Mr. May did not help us except for cutting and supplying with some materials.
What could have been done differently to help your learning?
It would have been better for me if we had more time and materials.
A Final Reflection:
How in the world can we make our game, Skee Ball for One or Two, better? We can always make the game better. Joy and I could have made it better by adding sides of cardboard to the game. That would help us so the balls do not roll off the side of our game, and we would not have to chase the balls that rolled off the side. I also think we should have a tube of the balls in front of the people playing. During this process I learned that I can make ski ball out of card board and how to solve problems with a partner. Before doing this project I did not know that it is really hard to make cardboard games. Since I did this project now I can now hand out tickets really fast and take them back and give out prizes really fast, too. I liked that I had a partner; it really helped me out with the game. My partner was Joy. It also helped that Mr. May did not help us except for cutting and supplying some materials. The process would have been better for me if we had more time and materials.
